Offset plates
Offset
plates
are one of the most important components for offset printing. Each
plate is a thin sheet made of aluminium or its alloys which has been
properly processed. The sheet is covered with several layers of
light-sensitive and protective coating. The processing allows to
increase the area of the plate's surface as much as possible and to
enhance its porosity. The light-sensitive components develop the
image.
Use
of offset plates
At the present, offset plates are widely applied and have
almost completely replaced the analogue plates. The popularity of this
technology is explained by the following factors:
|
High quality of image printing |
|
Reduced cost price of manufacturing process |
|
Possibility to work with large and small number of printed copies
|
|
High
rate
of manufacture. |
Plates quality depends, first of all, on the material. This can be
various polymeric materials and paper, but aluminium plates are most
popular and established products in the market.
Monometallic plates are most widespread.
Material and manufacturer of a plate influence the service life. The
useful life can make from several hundreds thousand to millions
prints.
